Information for Parents and Carers

Parents and carers play a vital role in helping young people make informed decisions about their future. We encourage families to explore the high-quality careers information and guidance available online — and to get involved with careers activities at school where possible.

We’re always keen to hear from parents who can support careers events in school. This could be as a speaker, mentor or mock-interviewer, or by offering work experience or industry-related trips for small groups. Please contact the Careers Leader for more information.

How you can support your child at home

Career development isn’t just something that happens at school — your conversations at home matter just as much. Parents can support their child’s career development by:

  • Discussing interests, strengths and aspirations regularly
  • Attending options evenings and careers events
  • Encouraging work experience and enrichment opportunities
  • Exploring different pathways together (A Levels, T Levels, apprenticeships, university)
