Our Sixth Form is a place where students are treated as young adults, trusted with greater independence, and supported to make the most of it. Class sizes are small, relationships with teachers are strong, and every student receives the individual attention they need to achieve their best — whether that’s heading to university, starting an apprenticeship, or moving into employment.

Sixth Form
Haydon Bridge High School Sixth Form is a small, friendly and supportive community where every student is known, valued and encouraged to succeed. We offer a broad and flexible range of courses, including both A Levels and BTECs, allowing students to choose a pathway that best suits their strengths, interests and future aspirations.
All students enrol on a two-year programme of study, carefully tailored to their individual circumstances and GCSE profile. This programme includes substantial qualifications that both challenge and support students, preparing them for higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
Alongside their main courses, students have the opportunity to undertake an accredited enhancement course such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), helping them to develop additional skills and stand out in future applications. Where required, students will also continue to study English and/or mathematics to secure a GCSE grade 4.
We place a strong emphasis on preparing students for life beyond school. In addition, our personal development programme builds confidence, character and broader life skills through sixth form assemblies, PSHE and citizenship education, and dedicated drop-down days. Together, these experiences ensure that all students leave Haydon Bridge Sixth Form as well-rounded, capable and ambitious young people.
